Local Community Club Fisher FC Chairman Chris Hiscock was named Coach of the Year (male pathway) for 2024 at The London FA Grassroots Awards.
Millwall Community Trust CEO Sean Daly and Trustee Simon Hughes were in attendance as Chris won the award.
Chris is Club Chairman and U11s coach at Fisher FC, who started Fisher Youth over seven years ago after relocation.
On return to St Pauls Stadium, Chris has overseen the growth of the club from two teams to a team at every age group, with 150 children now wearing Fisher FC kits.
He has established a partnership with Millwall Community Trust to progress club coaches and linking the club with Millwall's post-16 programme.
Millwall Community Trust and Fisher FC partnered in 2023 to create a historic registration of Fisher Youth FC’s first girls football team. Fisher Youth FC Under 12 Girls team started playing fixtures last season (2023/24) in the all-female Tandridge League Under 12 Premier Division and were all recruited from Millwall Community Trust’s weekly Premier League Kicks sessions held at St Paul’s Sports Ground on Wednesdays, and the Docklands Settlement on Thursdays, throughout the year.
Chris' goal was to grow community football in Bermondsey, establishing a community club where children can showcase their talents in a safe environment. It has been a mammoth task but due to Chris' dedication, the club has created a place for local children to play football, have fun, and create lifelong friendships.
He has supported football at the club, both administratively as a chairman, and as a coach for the U11s boys" side. He is a brilliant coach who does everything with a smile on his face.
Chris is the driving force behind Fishe FC becoming the established community club it has grown to be.
Sean Daly, MCT CEO said: “It was a privilege to be in attendance as Chris won this award.
“Millwall Community Trust’s partnership with Fisher FC is vital as we continue to serve our community and Chris has been such an important part in helping our partnership thrive.”
