Millwall Community Trust (MCT) are launching a bursary fund this week to tackle financial hardships.
The bursary fund has been put in place as an initiative to aid individuals participating in a MCT activity or programme. The funds will be awarded to help further an individual’s career and potential at MCT, whilst also supporting continued participation in MCT programmes.
Sean Daly CEO of the Trust said: “Funds raised from our fund-raising events and donations from supporters of the Trust will support the MCT's bursary, which will offer financial support to participants on our programmes, for example helping with travel expenses so they can attend, providing clothing for young people we're working with or paying for a haircut before an interview."
The trust is excited to provide this opportunity to the local community. Through all the funding and donations, support will be provided to those who need it.
Joubin Sarrami, who was a part of the initial fundraiser for the fund said: “It was amazing to be able to raise funds for and launch our bursary fund. We achieved this with support from our amazing fans who took part in a month-long virtual race around Europe between all host Euro 2020 cities. Our fantastic fans ran, cycled, and walked nearly 6000 miles. Thanks to them, we were able to smash our fundraising target.
The bursary fund will be open to all participants of Millwall Community Trust programmes. The scheme has been set up to help support participants to take part in our programmes and help them achieve their goals without finances being a barrier. We are really excited to launch the project and will always welcome donations."
