Millwall Community Trust (MCT) attended the Rio Ferdinand Foundation tournament at Burgess Park in Southwark last Thursday.

The Rio Ferdinand Foundation creates opportunities for young people to tackle inequality, achieve their personal potential and drive social change.

MCT took four teams to the tournament - two boys teams and two girls teams.

Our teams were made up of young people that attend our weekly Premier League Kicks sessions across Lewisham and Southwark.

These events give young people an opportunity to play matches against other teams and represent Millwall in a competitive manner whilst being able to improve their teamwork skills.

In the boys side of the competition, Millwall A’s won three out of their six matches, losing two and drawing one whilst our Millwall’s B’s won five out of their six fixtures made it to the final losing on penalties.

Our Millwall girl’s sides played a very competitive in house match against each other with all participants showing excellent teamwork and attitude.

Joubin Sarrami, Millwall Community Trust Community Manager, said: “What a fantastic day for our young people at Burgess Park last week!

“Thank you to the Rio Ferdinand Foundation for inviting us and hosting a superb tournament that gave our young people a chance to show their skills and work together as a team.

“It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves whilst showing excellent sportsmanship throughout.”
