Millwall Community Trust want to thank Lions PFA Community Champion of the Year Shaun Hutchinson for his service to the local community following his release from Millwall Football Club.

Centre-back and club captain Hutchinson leaves SE16 having made 257 appearances for The Lions, scoring 14 times. One of the defender's most notable goals came on the final day of the 2016/17 season, as his late winner at Bristol Rovers secured a Play-Off place in Sky Bet League One; Millwall then going on to win promotion via defeating Bradford City in the Final.

Hutchinson's final goal for The Lions was also vital as he netted a stoppage-time winner at Bristol City on New Year's Day 2024.

Hutchinson was awarded Millwall’s PFA Community Champion for the 2023/24 campaign.

The award recognises the positive impact players have in the community, and the depth of support they provide.

Hutchinson has visited our Post-16 Football and Education Programme this year whilst also coordinating other player visits throughout the season.

As well as attending that event, the 33-year-old attended many other player visits throughout his eight-year spell in SE16.

Sean Daly, CEO of Millwall Community Trust, said: “I want to say a huge thank you to Shaun Hutchinson for all his work over the years in co-ordinating player visits throughout our local community.

“We are so grateful for everything he has done for Millwall Community Trust.

“Player visits are so important in inspiring the next generation as they leave a lasting impact on people’s lives.

“I would like to thank Shaun and all the players and staff for their continued support of the Community Trust.

“We would like to wish Shaun and his family all the best for the future.”
