Duncan Watmore and Joe Bryan shared their football skills with youngsters taking part in the Millwall Community Trust’s summer football camp earlier this week.

The Lions duo joined in practice games at St Paul’s Sports Ground in Rotherhithe on Monday before answering questions from the kids and signing autographs.

Watmore knows full well the importance of such initiatives having also participated when a child.

He said: “I grew up near Manchester in Cheshire and attended camps like this. I think I got spotted at one of the holiday camps.

“By going to that, Manchester United’s academy picked me up. There are always people watching at these things and there is always opportunities.”

Defender Bryan was also delighted to lend a helping hand.

He said: “This is an hour out of my day, so it is great if I can impart a little bit of knowledge of the game to these kids and have a bit of fun playing football with them.

“The main thing at this age is the kids are having fun and engaging in constructive activities like playing football together.”

The summer camps are for children who receive free school meals and a free hot lunch is provided every day.
