Millwall Community Trust's (MCT) Mental Health Ambassador Joe Bryan, along with fellow first-team player Ryan Leonard, paid a special visit to Ilderton Primary School as part of Youth Mental Health Day, supporting the Premier League Primary Stars programme.
Premier League Primary Stars is a national initiative that uses the popularity of football and professional clubs like Millwall FC to inspire children to be active, develop essential life skills, and engage in learning.
The programme is delivered by the Premier League Charitable Fund, which focuses on creating lasting positive impacts in sports, health, and education for children, young people, and their communities.
The session at Ilderton Primary School was led by MCT’s Primary Stars and Schools Coordinator, Emily Poole, with support from Joe Bryan and Ryan Leonard. The focus was on youth mental health, and the children explored the importance of talking about their feelings through an engaging PowerPoint presentation.
Both Bryan and Leonard shared personal insights on mental health, emphasising the importance of discussing emotions, especially when facing challenges. They also held a Q&A session where the children had the chance to ask the players questions they had always wanted to know.
Tim Sells, MCT’s Football and Sports Development Manager, praised the event: “It was an excellent afternoon for the children to have first-team players Joe Bryan and Ryan Leonard visit their school and talk through such an important topic.
“It just shows what Millwall Community Trust is all about, helping in the local area, and the players doing this will make such an impact on these children."
