Millwall Lionesses maintained their impressive run with a 2-1 victory over Sport London E Benfica on Sunday afternoon.
Ted Jones’ side have lost one in ten league matches and extended that run yesterday.
Millwall started well and had efforts saved from Elise Jennings and Liv McGregor.
The visitors, however, took the lead on eight minutes. A long ball over the top was finished calmly.
The Lionesses looked to build pressure but there was no way through a resilient Sport London E Benfica defence in the first-half.
Despite all the momentum, it took until the 71st minute for Millwall to get back on level terms. Liv McGregor got on the end of a good pass before beating a defender and finishing superbly into the bottom corner.
From there it was all Millwall and their efforts were rewarded with an 88th minute winner. Ciara Watling found Mia Lockett whose brilliant finish found the back of the net.
Deep into added time, Emma Squirrell was introduced for her first appearance in just under three years as Millwall saw the game out to gain three points.
Millwall take on Dartford next weekend at St Paul’s Sports Ground (1:30pm kick-off) with free entry for all.
Millwall Lionesses: Wright, Connell, Chapman, Burgess, Huseyin, Joyce, Seely (C), Watling, Jennings, Lockett, McGregor.
