Millwall Lionesses were defeated 4-2 against Saltdean United at Hill Park on Sunday afternoon.

Ted Jones’ side dominated possession and chances but the hosts were victorious.

Millwall started really well and Olivia Harris’ quick feet opened up space to get a shot away which was saved before Mia Lockett’s follow up went wide.

Seven minutes later, Olivia McGregor found Elise Jennings whose strike whistled past the post. Then there would be three chances in quick succession.

First, Ciara Watling won the ball high before forcing the hosts stopper into a good save before Jennings did the same and McGregor’s effort went just wide.

The hosts against the run of the play were awarded a penalty which was calmly slotted away.

Saltdean doubled their lead on the 43rd minute before making it three on the stroke of half time.

Millwall refused to give up and two minutes after the restart Jennings hit the post from a tight angle.

The hosts added a fourth in the 67th minute after a tidy finish.

Shannan Drewe pulled one back for Millwall with an excellent bit of skill before finding the top corner and Ciara Watling got another back as she scored from the spot.

Millwall were unlucky not to grab a third as McGregor’s effort was well saved by the stopper.

The Lionesses continued to press for a route back into the game but Saltdean saw the game out.
