Millwall Community Trust have appointed Clive Efford MP as a Trustee.

Clive grew up in the local community having been educated at Walworth School and Southwark College.

Efford was first elected to Greenwich Council in 1986 for the Eltham Well Hall Ward, becoming the Labour Group Chief Whip in 1990.

Between 2010 and 2016, Clive served as the Shadow Minister for Sport, holding the government to account on issues relating to sport within the UK.

He pushed the government to do better on a range of issues, including football governance in England, high street gambling and fan safety at sporting events.

Sean Daly, MCT CEO said: “We’re delighted to welcome Clive Efford MP as a new Trustee.

“Clive has vast experience in creating polices, legislation work and working in sport to make it safer for all involved.

“Having worked as an MP and the role as Shadow Minister for Sport, Clive knows the benefits of sport and how it engages families in increasing health and social benefits.”

"We are all excited to work with Clive as we continue to serve our local community."
