Millwall Community Trust Executive Vice Chairman Peter Varney ahead of Millwall Lionesses match at The Den this Sunday.
Millwall Lionesses host Ashford United this Sunday, 4th May (1:30pm kick-off) at The Den and it’s the perfect Family Fun Day!
Before Ted Jones’ side face Ashford in SE16 there will be an opportunity for attendees to have fun at our Fan Zone which will be situated next to The Spitfire Bar which will also be open.
There will be bouncy castles and fun games to be involved in, making it a great day out for our Junior Lions and Lionesses.
Peter Varney said: "I have a deep rooted affection for the Lionesses as I was their first coach back in 1972 when my younger sister Pam was a player in the team. The goalkeeper back then was Anita Constantinou and we went on to marry in 1977 and this year is our 48th wedding anniversary. Remarkably some of the girls from that team still keep in touch.
"This season started with a number of difficult challenges surrounding the management of the Lionesses but it was brought under the control of the trust and our EDI lead Jason Vincent was appointed General Manager and Ted Jones was brought in as manager. Since then results on the pitch have been much more consistent and we are seeing real progress at all levels of the women’s structure.
"Women’s football has come a long way in the last few years with crowds and sponsorship at an all time high and with the game growing year on year. It is great for the girls to be playing at The Den today for their final match of the season versus Ashford United Ladies and thank you to each and every one of you who are coming and showing your support. It is very much appreciated."
