Millwall Community Trust Employability & IAG Hub success stories: Eve van’t Hoff.

The trust via it Employability HUB offers Employability and IAG support programmes for unemployed people of all ages and backgrounds free of charge.

This support includes 1:1 employability mentoring support delivery of weekly targeted pre-employability skills Bootcamp programmes, industry sector workshops, job fairs and recruitment events as well as training and education support.

Eve was referred to Millwall Community Trust’s Employability Hub through her Job Centre Plus Job Coach in February 2025.

Following this, Eve attended an Employability session where she wanted to get more information surrounding interview preparation and general industry advice in Health & Social Care.

MCT’s Employability & Education Manager John Scarborough noticed Eve as a candidate as an AP Mentor for the trust and therefore invited her in for an interview.

Eve was successful in getting the job and has been an integral part of the team ever since.

Eve van’t Hoff said: “I started coming to Millwall after the Job Centre suggested I join the employability hub.

“I found it really helpful for helping to explore my career is social care. One day I bumped into John and he suggested we had a one on one meeting to create an action plan.

“After explaining what I was interested in doing and the career direction I was aiming for, John told me about his experience as a social worker and his own journey. It was refreshing to speak to someone who knew from personal experience what it was like and what needed to be done.

“John then told me about a role he had going at the alternate provision as a mentor, and he suggested I interview for it as it would be a great experience and was very in line with my values and interests.

“The next week I came for the interview and everything went well, and now I’m here and I love it.”

Emile Davies-Cole, Millwall Youth Employment Coach said: “Working with Evelyn has been a pleasure. She’s very driven and has her set goals she wants to achieve which made my work very easy.

“Eve is extremely hard working, despite all her job search activities and other commitments, she was happy to attend IAG at Millwall Community Trust (MCT) and expressed willingness to engage and participate in Pathway set out by MCT. Her judgement has proved to be wise considering she is now employed by MCT! I’ve always said to her she is an inspiration and I honestly believe the sky is the limit."

Joey Taylor, Millwall Community Trust’s AP Tutor said: “Eve’s been excellent ever since she started working as an Ap Mentor, helping the students set short- and long-term targets as well as helping them overcome barriers they may face."
