Millwall FC first-team players Wes Harding and Ra’ees Bangura Williams paid a special visit to Grove Primary School as part of Black History Month, supporting the Premier League Primary Stars programme.
Premier League Primary Stars is a national initiative that uses the popularity of football and professional clubs like Millwall FC to inspire children to be active, develop essential life skills, and engage in learning.
The programme is delivered by the Premier League Charitable Fund, which focuses on creating lasting positive impacts in sports, health, and education for children, young people, and their communities.
The session at Grove Primary School - a partner school of Millwall Community Trust (MCT) - was led by MCT’s Primary Stars and Schools Coordinator, Emily Poole, with support from Wes Harding and Ra’ees Bangura Williams to Year 4, Year 5 and 6.
The focus was on anti-discrimination and inclusion, and the children talked about the importance of including everyone.
Both Harding and Bangura Williams shared personal insights on why it is so important to include everyone and make sure everyone feels listened to.
The session concluded with a role play exercise where participants showed what inclusion looks like.
Emily Poole, MCT’s Primary Stars & Schools Co-Ordinator said: “It was an excellent afternoon for the children to have first-team players Wes Harding and Ra’ees Bangura Williams visit their school and talk through such an important topic.
“It just shows what Millwall Community Trust is all about, helping in the local area, and the players doing this will make such an impact on these children."
