Millwall Community Trust (MCT) in partnership with DWP Job Centre Plus (JCP) hosted another successful Kick Into Employment Job Fair last week.
The Job Fair - that started at 11am and finished at 3pm - saw residents from the local community attend with a range of different industry sectors in attendance.
There was opportunities for all who attended into full time employment, part-time employment, training and apprenticeship roles.
MCT’s brand-new headline sponsor Wiggett Group were in attendance as they continue to show incredible support and collaboration with the trust.
Millwall Football Club also had a stall advertising for their roles currently available as did MCT.
Whilst the Kick Into Employment Job Fair was in full flow, Good People and Southwark Works had a Green and Fortune Recruitment Day giving participants an opportunity into direct employment into the hospitality sector.
The day finished with a Health & Wellbeing match between Millwall’s Military Veteran Football team and JCP’s Job Coaches with all attendees enjoying themselves.
MCT’s Education & Employability Manager John Scarborough said: “Fantastic event and credit to so many employers and training providers giving up there half terms to come in and help and advise the local community into employment.
“My thanks to both Jeffrey and Claire from the partnership team who helped us pull this together and JCP staff who helped on the day.
“It was great to see over 30-40 job interviews take place on the day within the HUB via Good People.
“Finally it was great in the evening to host JCP Job coach team for a health and wellbeing session via a friendly match against Millwall Military Veterans football team and getting the JCP staff their own bespoke JCP themed Millwall kit for future health and wellbeing sessions.”
Holly Krumins, Good People added: “Great event at Millwall Community Trust for the joint Kick Into Employment Job Fair.
“We met around 50 candidates, connecting many with our hospitality employer, Green & Fortune, as well as other Southwark and GoodPeople vacancies.
“The collaboration between all exhibitors and organisers was fantastic, with everyone supporting one another throughout the day.
“We’ve identified around fifteen strong potentials for Green & Fortune and another fifteen for other shared roles.
“Overall, it was a brilliant event, and I’m already looking forward to the next one!”
Clair Petit, Runway Training concluded: “The MCT Job fair was invaluable to Runway Training.
From an Employment and IAG coach perspective it was a fantastic opportunity for our participants to meet, engage and interview with Employers that they would never necessarily have crossed paths with and in a broader sense.
“The MCT Job Fair allowed Runway to introduce other participants (not assigned to MCT Project) to the same employers and opportunities.
“From the day Runway received 25 expressions of interests to our core SWAP courses, CSCS, Hospitality, Teaching assistants and Functional Skills.
“We were delighted to see two of our participants were interviewed on the day and were offered jobs within 2-3 days of the fair.
“The day was a huge success for Runway in terms of networking with employers, learners and DWP.
“It was a real show of each organisation working collaboratively together to gain the all-important opportunities for Employment and progression – Thanks MCT! We will be at the next one!”
