From grassroots football to representing Millwall at Under-21 level, Nifemi Olukoya’s journey highlights the opportunities available through Millwall Community Trust’s football development pathway.
Nifemi’s journey began at Millwall Community Trust’s holiday camp courses, where he was able to develop his footballing ability, build confidence and take the first steps towards pursuing his ambitions in the game.
His progression saw him move into MCT’s Player Development Centre, providing further opportunities to improve his technical ability, develop his understanding of the game and continue his footballing education.
The next step came with Millwall Youth Academy, where Nifemi continued his development within the club’s pathway, working towards the opportunity to represent the Lions at a higher level.
Now featuring for Millwall's Under-21s, Nifemi’s story is a fantastic example of how grassroots opportunities can provide a platform for aspiring footballers to progress through the game.
Millwall Community Trust is proud to play a part in creating these opportunities, with its Player Performance Pathway sessions designed to help young players develop their skills, improve their game and reach their potential.
Scott Fitzgerald, Academy Director at Millwall FC said: “Millwall FC Academy is committed to developing young footballers and providing them with a pathway into professional football. Teams run from U8s through to U23s within a safe and professional environment which allows young footballers to flourish.
“The Millwall Community Trust’s Player Performance Pathway Centre aims to help identify and nurture local talented players. It has been specifically designed to help players improve and progress, whilst providing a clear pathway for any player who excels to the academy level.”
