Millwall Football Club is pleased to announce that Executive Vice Chairman, Peter Varney, has extended his agreement with the Millwall Community Trust (MCT) until 31st October 2024.
MCT recently approved an expansive new four-year business plan which includes strategies to grow the number of community programmes it operates with a particular emphasis on tackling important social issues like anti-social behaviour, knife crime, obesity, poverty and much more. There are also plans to establish a media college and the planned redevelopment of The Den will present some exciting opportunities for club and Trust alike.
Steve Kavanagh, Millwall Chief Executive, said: “Twelve months ago the Trust faced a very uncertain future but Peter has been pivotal in mentoring its CEO, Sean Daly, and playing a key role in stabilising the organisation and producing the recently approved new four-year business plan.”
Keith Soper, Millwall Community Trust Chair, added: "The Board very much welcomes this news, and we look forward to continuing to benefit from Peter's extensive experience as we seek to deliver the objectives in our business plan."
Varney said: “I still feel I have a lot to offer and possess the energy and drive for this senior role. I’m grateful for the confidence shown in me and the support given by everyone at Millwall both in the football club and the Trust.”
