Millwall Lionesses' goalkeeper and MCT ambassador, Kelly Webster, shares her joy on winning her PFA Community Champion Award.
“It is an absolute honour to win an award that is so prestigious, I am over the moon to win the PFA Community Champion Award as a member of the Millwall Lionesses.
I was surprised when Sean Daly phoned me and told me that he had put me in for the award. He then went on to say it had been confirmed that I had won - I was pretty much lost for words and totally shocked to hear the news!
It’s so rewarding to win, as the Millwall Community Trust is a massive part of the club and the community, so I am very proud to be a part of it. A few of the things that I have done for the Trust are the Santa Dash at the end of last year, and I have been to Docklands Settlement to meet some young players and watch their training sessions there. I like to do anything I can to help and always available to help, obviously fitting it around my work.
It was an easy decision to re-sign for the Lionesses for next season, as I love this club with all my heart. I would do anything to help get them back up the tiers to where this club belongs with all it's amazing history. It is so nice that all of us have stuck together from last season to go again - it shows what a great bond we all have as a team. This team is family to me.
I am extremely positive about the upcoming league campaign, as we have kept so many great players from last year. It shows the commitment and love for this club and each other. We were unbeaten in the league last season, so we are going to have to push even harder this year to do the same, but I know everyone is up for the challenge.
I want to personally thank all of the fans for their support during these tough times. It really means so much to us all and I cant wait to see everyone when we start playing games again. Hopefully we all see even more people this season, and I hope everyone is well and stays safe.”
