Millwall Community Trust (MCT) recently received recognition from Southwark Council for their exceptional efforts in hosting the Summer Holiday, Activity, and Food (HAF) camps.
These camps, organised by MCT, proved to be a vital and impactful initiative during the summer break. Operating from 10am-2pm daily, they not only provided engaging activities but also ensured that each participant received a nutritious and complimentary hot meal each day.
This recognition underscores MCT's commitment to enhancing the well-being of the community and fostering positive experiences for the youth.
The letter reads as follows:
Dear Food and Fun Providers Southwark’s Food and Fun Holiday Programme
We wanted to share our appreciation for all your efforts in providing enriching opportunities for young people in Southwark over the school holidays. We are pleased to be able to support organisations who are making such a positive difference in communities across the borough through the Food and Fun holiday programme.
The breadth of activities on offer, the delicious healthy meals served and your commitments to investing in your communities are examples that all organisations working in this space can learn from. The holiday programme has been well-received by the community and we are grateful for the services you provide to some of our most vulnerable residents.
Thank you for your ongoing support of the holiday programme, we look forward to celebrating your future successes.
With best wishes,
Yours sincerely,
Cllr Stephanie Cryan Cabinet Member for Communities, Democracy and Finance
Cllr Evelyn Akoto Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing
Tim Sells, Millwall Community Trust’s Football and Sports Development Manager said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank Southwark Council for their continued support and letter of appreciation. Our aim at the Millwall Community Trust is to provide support for young people in tough times and these camps are a great way for participants to spend their school holidays.
"We ensure each young person receives a hot meal each day, we educate them on the importance of healthy eating and we also keep them physically active all whilst having lots of fun and making new friends.
"We are already looking forward to the next set of HAF camps coming up at Christmas and hope to see you all there!!”
