Millwall Lionesses beat Bromley Women 2-0 at St Paul’s Sports Ground on Sunday afternoon to progress to the Third Round of the Women’s FA Cup.
The Lionesses came into the match on the back of a 1-0 defeat, but made it eight wins in their last nine with the victory.
Alex Russell and Adam Rowland’s side started well and retained possession as they searched for the opener - and Shannan Drewe came close as she struck the crossbar.
Just before the half-hour mark, however, Millwall did take the lead, Poppy Payne found Drewe; her shot was saved, but only into the path of Emma Whitter, who tapped home.
Seven minutes later, it was nearly two as Ellen Napper’s strike was superbly saved by the visitor's stopper.
After the restart, it took a while for either team to build any momentum, but the best chance fell for Whitter, whose effort was well saved.
That started a flow of chances as Drewe hit the post from outside the box, before Bromley’s 'keeper was once again called into action to keep the visitors in the game.
Millwall did seal the win in the 91st minute, though, as Drewe stayed calm and composed in front of goal to slot home.
The Lionesses will find out their Third Round opponents in Monday afternoon's draw.
