Millwall Community Trust (MCT) ran another series of successful Holiday, Activity and Food Camps (HAF) across Lewisham and Southwark over the Christmas break.
The Millwall Community Trust HAF programmes run during most school holidays and are a great opportunity for children to have fun, improve their skills and make new friends in a safe and structured environment.
The HAF camps are specifically for children who receive free school meals, ensuring they do not miss out on food or physical activity when not at school, and every child receives a free hot lunch every day.
This Christmas holiday, MCT ran HAF camps at four different locations which included St Paul’s Sports Ground, Rotherhithe, The Lions Centre, The Bradfield Club and Bethwin Adventure Playground.
In the Southwark area, 55 children took part at St Paul’s Sports Ground each day and camps ran from December 27th-December 29th between 10am-2pm as well as January 3rd-January 5th 2024 with the same timings.
Also in Southwark, The Bradfield Club camps - which had 25 participants each day - ran from December 27th-December 29th as well as January 3rd-January 5th 2024 all between the hours of 10am-2pm.
60 children took part in Lewisham at The Lions Centre with the HAF camps running on December 28th-December 29th as well as January 4th-January 5th 2024 from 10am-2pm.
MCT also had another 25 children take part in daily activity at another location in Southwark, this time at Bethwin Adventure Playground, which ran from December 27th-December 28th between the hours of 2:00pm-6pm.
Tim Sells, Millwall Community Trust’s Football and Sports Development Manager said: “It was great to be able to offer the local kids free Christmas Holiday, Activity and Food Camps over the festive period. Christmas is a time for giving, so for us to be able to help feed these children whilst offering them free, fun activity is really rewarding. Many of our local families are really struggling at this time, so it is important we step up and support where we can.”
“We can’t wait to see all the participants at our next Holiday Camps.”
