Students on the Second chance Alternative Provision (AP) Health and Social Care Pre-Employability programme trainees visited the Job Centre Plus (JCP) in Peckham today.
The students got to go around the facilities and see what the process is about when you go to a Job Centre and try to gain employment
Students got to see where meetings take place within the centre and the different sectors that the centre tailors to. Detailed explanations of self-employment and other factors of work were also included as the tour went on.
The presentation that the students went through related to applications, interviews and how interviews are graded. A lot of informative guidance was seen throughout the presentation, and it helped our students understand how to look and sound presentable while seeking employment.
Overall, it was a successful day and JCP did a fantastic job of showing what they’re about whilst engaging our students at the same time.
Ophelie Zahui, Millwall Community Trust’s Millwall Community Trust Employability IAG Mentor and tutor: “The visit today at the JCP was very insightful and beneficial for the young people. It allowed them to see the process of how the JCP works and how the JCP can help them with jobs, writing CV's and financial help.”
