Millwall Community Trust (MCT) sponsored Millwall Under-18’s FA Youth Cup Quarter Final against Chelsea on Wednesday evening.
Millwall Community Trust’s logo and messaging was shown around the ground and on the advertising boards to show the MCT’s commitment to Equality.
MCT are dedicated to supporting youth football.
Millwall Under 18’s defeated Chelsea 4-2 on penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw (after extra-time) at The Den.
Harrison Murray-Campbell gave The Blues a fortuitous lead in the second-half, only for Jack Howland to equalise minutes later.
With no further goals in the remainder of the 90 minutes or extra-time, Larry McAvoy and Chris Perry's side proceeded to defeat their Premier League opponents from 12 yards, thanks to an Albert Penney save.
The first chance of the evening went the way of Millwall just three minutes in, but after Elidon O'Boyle beat his marker down the right-hand side and crossed, Kavalli Heywood's goal-bound effort was blocked by the Chelsea defence.
It was The Lions were continuing to force the issue against their loftier opponents, and with 18 minutes played Heywood's skill set up the chance for George Beaumont to cross, but it was too long for the awaiting Elias Mansor at the back post.
Chelsea's first attempt of the night, meanwhile, came at the halfway point of the half, with Reiss Russell Denny's strike initially spilled by Albert Penney before Jimmy-Jay Morgan was ruled to be offside with the follow-up.
Jack Howland's effort was then deflected wide as Millwall remained in control of the attacking play - and just before the half-hour mark, The Lions robbed the visitors of possession on the edge of their own penalty area, but O'Boyle opted to try and find Heywood inside the box - instead of perhaps the better option in shooting - as the ball was cleared away.
A trio of Millwall attempts from a corner-kick moments later got the crowd off their feet, as an attack eventually fizzled out with Alfie Massey striking wide.
Beaumont's cross was almost flicked towards goal by Mansor as The Lions looked to ramp up the pressure with half-time approaching, whilst a moment of concern came at the other end as Denny curled a free-kick over the crossbar from 25 yards out.
Two minutes before the break, Chelsea turned defence into attack as they broke away from a corner-kick, however, Tyrique George's strike was high and wide, before Olugbodi had to clear off the line as Harrison McMahon looked to open the scoring.
Heywood blazed over as the second-half got underway, whilst a big chance on 58 minutes saw Howland cross towards the back post; Mansor was waiting for a tap-in, but Heywood's stretch took the ball out of the right-back's path and into a position from which Chelsea could scramble away.
Howland had to clear off the line as the visitors looked to threaten on the hour-mark, before the winger looked to assist Heywood at the other end minutes later - the striker's first-time effort rolling into the arms of Chelsea goalkeeper Max Merrick, however.
There were 66 minutes played, though, when the deadlock was broken - by Chelsea - as Murray-Campbell bundled home at the back post from a corner.
Five minutes later, however, Millwall were level as Howland took advantage of some slack Chelsea defending to ghost in and calmly slot past Merrick for the equaliser.
George weaved his way through the Millwall backline as the final 15 minutes got underway, only to find the brick wall of Penney stopping his effort, with Olugbodi then running down the left and crossing into the side-netting as the 90-minute mark neared.
In eight minutes of stoppage-time, Frankie Maciocia's lofted pass looked for substitute Sheldon Kendall at the back post, but his volley was saved by Merrick.
A golden opportunity then dropped at the feet of O'Boyle as he took Heywood's pass in his stride, but with mere seconds remaining, the striker was denied by the stopper. Chelsea goalscorer Murray-Campbell then had to nod off the line in the final action of the 90+ minutes.
Captain Josh Stephenson's shot was blocked as the first period of extra-time rolled on; with 100 minutes elapsed, Heywood twisted and turned and fired into the penalty area, but O'Boyle's touch was heavy and gratefully accepted by Merrick.
The Blues then struck the post as the goalmouth action continued at both ends, with George conspiring to fire well over on 111 minutes as he found himself unmarked inside the box.
Penney then had to claw Ishe Samuels-Smith's deflected cross away from his own goal-line as penalties started to loom, before Harrison McMahon's attempt was skewed wide in the final minute of extra-time.
And so to penalties; Howland stepped up first for The Lions and sent Merrick the wrong way, Kiano Dyer did the same to Penney; Maciocia confidently found the top corner, Wade found the dive of Penney to put Millwall in the lead; Heywood struck one in off the underside of the crossbar, George kept The Blues in it; Stephenson's left-footed strike put Millwall on the brink, before Michael Golding blazed over to send The Lions into the Semi-Finals.
