Millwall’s Community Day 2024 was a huge success on Saturday afternoon.
Millwall Community Trust hosted plenty of events throughout the day for children and adults to enjoy as well as showcasing the superb work the Trust do in the local community.
Starting at 10am, we had a 16–24-year-old Job Fair in partnership with Twin Employment and Good People in The Lions Centre which gave all attendees the opportunity to secure employment whilst finding out important information around the roles.
Between 10am-11:30am a Girls PL Kicks Tournament took the place with all the girls having plenty of fun whilst playing football.
Following on from that an AP/Post-16 Tournament took place in The Lions Centre with sixty participants involved.
There was a family fun zone inside the sports hall of the Millwall Community Trust where children enjoyed the bouncy castle and football games as well as playing a huge version of Connect four.
Millwall Community Trust (MCT) Ambassador and professional Boxer Chris Kongo was in attendance and taught children boxing skills whilst joining in and participating in the fun.
In the afternoon, a local band played at the Blue Bus whilst the Job Fair moved to the SE16 area to continue offering supporters and attendees the chance to secure employment.
From 1:30pm onwards, Romans, Pride, Lionesses, Post-16 students, Walking Sports, Premier League Kicks and Schools Programme participants were outside the ground with bucket collections with all donations going to the Trust - whilst fans were able to pick up a special edition MCT Swim Bags and Water Bottles.
Ten minutes before kick-off Millwall Lionesses U12’s took part in a guard of honour for the players as they came onto the pitch.
The day didn’t stop there as it ended with a lap of honour from all Trust attendees and participants as well as Lewisham College, Youth First, Job Centre Plus and Active Communities Network all receiving a Community Contribution Award for their outstanding support they’ve shown to MCT in the local area with the award being handed out by Millwall FC Chairman James Berylson.
A fantastic day was had by everyone and thank you very much for all your support.
Millwall Community Trust CEO, Sean Daly said: “Community Day 2024 was a huge success, and we are delighted with how the day went after months of planning.
