Millwall Community Trust Employability & IAG Hub success stories: Reece Endicott.
The trust via it Employability HUB offers Employability and IAG support programmes for unemployed people of all ages and backgrounds free of charge.
This support includes 1:1 employability mentoring support delivery of weekly targeted pre-employability skills Bootcamp programmes, industry sector workshops, job fairs and recruitment events as well as training and education support.
Reece came to Millwall Community Trust’s Alternative Provision (AP) Programme in Year 11 and was identified as pre NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) and therefore was referred to Millwall Community Trust’s Employability & IAG Hub.
Following on from this, Reece showed a real passion for Sports Journalism and therefore continued his journey with MCT’s Employability Hub and was able to shadow Media Officer Kai Bennett where he was able to write match reports and learn content skills.
Reece studied Sports Studies at Lewisham College before moving onto his L3 Sports Journalism course which he has now completed.
Through MCT’s Employability & IAG Hub, Reece was able to access the EFL Training Ground programme where he learnt valuable employability skills and has become a graduate of this programme.
Following this, Reece has continued to receive support from MCT’s Employability Hub, attending employability sessions and through this has been able to speak to partners such as Runway Training and local community club - Fisher FC about potential opportunities.
Through these support programmes and partners, Reece has been offered a job at Runway Training as Oliver McGowan Lived Expert Trainer giving him an opportunity to showcase his skills.
As well as this, Reece will be assisting Jim Maycock at Fisher FC with their website content and match reports as he continues to progress into the world of media.
Reece Endicott said: “When I first came to Millwall Community Trust, I was a year 11 with no real plan for my future.
“But the trust has helped me found a passion for sports media and pushed me to be the best version of myself possible.
“I am very excited about my future roles with Runway Training and Fisher FC and my future looks very bright which is down to the work Millwall Community Trust did to help me.”
Clair Pettit, Engagement Lead at Runway Training said: “Runway Training are thrilled to share a heartening development in our ongoing work around the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism awareness. We have expanded coverage into different London Borough’s and recruited for “Lived Expert” vacancies to fill to support with this invaluable training.
“Having a successful and two way partnership with Millwall Community Trust, I spoke with Millwall Community Trust’s Education & Employability Manager John Scarborough regarding us expanding our delivery and that we were looking to recruit “lived experts” with Autism or Learning difficulties to support delivery.
“John Scarborough introduced me to Reece Endicott (John thought he was a perfect match) and spoke about Reece in such a way that I interviewed him that very same week.
“Well, John was spot on, Reece is a bright, passionate neurodiverse young adult that is not only a die hard Lions fan but his passion and sense of belief in himself just blew me away during our interviews and meetings.
“Runway Training are proud and privileged to say Reece will be joining our team in July 2025, bringing lived experience, insight, and a voice that is both authentic and powerful.
“From day one, Reece’s contribution will help ground our sessions in real-world understanding. Whether it’s sharing personal perspectives or simply asking the right questions, his presence will add invaluable input to the training and its purpose.
“It’s a timely reminder that true inclusion doesn’t just mean talking about people - it means talking with them.
“It’s been inspiring to see the passion and sheer determination Reece has to raise awareness regarding Autism/Learning difficulties and give an insight to his own experiences.
“During the interview I just knew that our audiences would respond to Reece’s honesty, clarity, and humour. This is exactly what the Oliver McGowan training is all about: not just raising awareness but shifting attitudes.
“Reece’s can-do attitude and how he carries himself was exactly what Runway needed and within a few days a role was offered without hesitation!
“As we continue this work, we’re proud to walk alongside the next generation of advocates — and to be reminded that often, our greatest teachers are the ones we’ve only just begun to hear from. Reece will, I’m Sure will be an amazing lived expert trainer and a fantastic addition to our team.”
Jim Maycock, Fisher FC’s Secretary said: “We are delighted to welcome Reece onboard with Fisher FC.
“As a local community club we are really keen to help Reece progress his journalistic skills and look forward to seeing his work and contributing to our website editorials.”
Ophelie, Zahui, MCT’s Employability Mentor said: “I’m proud of Reece’s progression and have never doubted that he would get to where he is. He will be a great addition to Fisher FC and Runway and I can’t wait to see him continue to thrive.”
