Supporter of Millwall Community Trust (MCT) Gianluca Sardi had several key institutional meetings highlighting MCT and Millwall Football Club.
On the 9th of December, as a Director of the Institute for Research on Anglo-Italian Comparative Law and Bioethics, Gianluca Sardi had several institutional meetings in London, together with the Rector of the University of Teramo Christian Corsi (who was in London for an institutional mission) and the Chairman of The Association of Italics Leonardo Simonelli Santi (who is also a member of the scientific committee of the Institute).
The trio opened the day at The Royal Institution of Great Britain, where they were welcomed by the Director Katherine Mathieson and by the Fundraising Manager Matilda Brady. During the aforementioned meeting, Gianluca, who recently became a Patron of the Royal Institution, was able to highlight the initiatives that Millwall Football Club and Millwall Community Trust organize for the South London people, with a special focus on the programmes aimed at reducing violence among the younger generations (such as the Divert Officer initiative) and the Lions Food Hub.
The morning commitments continued at the Italian Embassy, which recently moved to its new general headquarters in Buckingham Gate, just in front of Buckingham Palace.
At the Embassy, the group was welcomed by HE Minister Riccardo Smimmo, Deputy Head Mission of the Italian Embassy in London. During the conversation in the prestigious Sala Giuseppe Verdi of the Embassy, Prof.
Sardi was proud to inform Dr. Smimmo of the gorgeous initiatives that Millwall FC and MCT organize for the local students, such as the Employability Hubs (that take place on a regular basis in the MCT general headquarters in Bolina Road) and the academic cooperation agreement with Lewisham College that enables some of the most talented students of journalism at the College to practise the profession at The Den and in the Lions Centre, through the preparation and attendance of press conferences and of some match-day activities. Gianluca was also delighted to invite Minister Smimmo to visit The Den and the Lions Centre.
The trio then had another important institutional appointment at The Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK, in the heart of Mayfair, where they were welcomed by the President Roberto Costa and by the Deputy General Secretary Carolina Sanfratello.
During this meeting, in which Roberto Costa highlighted the precious role of the Chamber as a bridge between the Italian and the British business community, Gianluca remembered the precious role that Italics had at Millwall along the decades, with a special focus on Peter Martinelli (a long time director during some memorable years for Millwall between the 1970's and the 1990's) and Massimo Luongo, a fantastic player with Italian blood, who has always been an inspiration for everyone both on and off the pitch.
The evening terminated in the highly prestigious House of Lords, where the trio attended the Christmas Reception of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the UK.
The event, which was opened by the remarks of Baron Russell of Liverpool, showed once again the strong, perennial and gorgeous ties between the United Kingdom and Italy. Among the attendees, there were also Ambassador Pasquale Terracciano (Chairman of the London Delegation of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta), Dr. Luigi Carnelli (that, as a highly skilled bank director, has always promoted the relationship between Italy and the UK and is also very active in many commendable charity initiatives), Dr. Angelo Ciafardoni (Personal Financial Advisor at Fineco Bank), Dr. Giorgia Panichi (Manager Customer Care at Headu) and Ms Kautar Fecha (a highly talented Italian student who, dispute her young age, has already won several awards for her excellent academic commitment).
During the evening, Sardi was honoured to explain to his guests and to the other people in attendance the wonderful initiatives that MFC and the MCT offer to the amazing South London Community every day. The Millwall world is always a constant inspiration, thanks to James Berylson, Sean Daly and all the fantastic people that are a part of it.
