Job Title: Powerchair Football Assistant Coach

Employer: South London Special League

Hours: Thursday 4:00-8:00pm and Match days

Salary: £2,750-£4,200

Contract Type: 1 year

Location: The Waterfront Leisure Centre, Woolwich and Powerchair Regional venue for games

Responsible to: Head Coach

Deadline: Friday 16th February 2024

Your Role:

Are you passionate to work with and engage well with people with disabilities to help them achieve their full potential, improve their well-being and confidents while having fun?

Key Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Assist the head coach

• Support, plan and deliver training sessions related to the game.

• Support with getting the chair out and putting them away at the beginning and end of each session

• Provide a safe and fun environment for all people to meet new friends, develop skills and improve their physical and mental health and social skills.

• Develop and maintain positive relationships with all users, parents/carers, staff, and local partners.

• To attend games

• Support by running the side line at games when required

• To manage sessions and games where needed

• To drive the minibus to games


Essential Requirements:

Qualifications

• Minimum FA Level 1 in Football Coaching or the new FA Introduction to Coaching award.

• Safeguarding Children & First Aid certificates

 

Skills

• Ability to develop positive relationships with the users and their parents/carers.

• Ability to work as part of a team and maintain good working relationships.

• Strong track record of punctuality and reliability.

• Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.

• A positive ‘can do’ attitude, always looking for solutions to problems or issues.

• Enthusiastic and self-motivated to make a difference.

• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills to adapt to different abilities.

 

Desirable Requirements:

• WFA Coaching Awards

• Disability Coaching Award

• FA Level 2 Coaching Award

• WFA Refereeing Award

• Experience working with people with disabilities

• Hold a B1 on driving Licence


Requirements:

• To work Thursday evenings 4:00 – 8:00pm 48weeks a year. With a 2 week break in December and 2 weeks during August. Plus 4 weeks of your choice.

• To work on Match day – 6 times weekends (Saturday or Sunday) for Regionals, plus Cup Games. Any additional games will be paid as over time at your current salary rate.

 

Salary will depend on qualifications and experience.

We will support/pay for any additional qualification relevant for this post including the renewal of First Aid and Child Protection Certificates.
